Internships for Law Students with Miami SAO
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office has volunteer positions for law students. Students may also intern for school credit or receive grant awards. We do not match work study grants.
These positions involve working as a clerk for an Assistant State Attorney on a part-time (minimum 20 hours) or full-time basis for a minimum of 10 weeks. Duties may include legal research and writing and assisting in all aspects of case preparation. Interns will also be able to observe depositions and pre-file conferences, attend court on a regular basis to observe pre-trial hearings and trials, and become familiar with the workings of the criminal justice system.
Students who have completed their second year of law school and are participating in their law school’s Clinical Program will be certified to speak in court. They will be able to handle misdemeanor or felony cases under the supervision of an attorney.
To apply for volunteer positions, request an application from Recruitment Coordinator Gunnar Stewart at (305) 547-0561 or firstname.lastname@example.org. To apply for clinical placement, contact your Clinical Director.
All applicants are subject to a criminal background check and clearance prior to acceptance.
