TITLE: VICTIM WITNESS COUNSELOR I
Victim Witness Services Unit
A position is immediately available for a Victim Witness Counselor I in the Victim Witness Services Unit. This position requires extensive telephone contact with victims and witnesses and high-volume case management. Responsibilities include the preparation of witness availability list for trial, mandatory trial subpoenas and witness locates; filing mail; coordinating transportation; assessing the victim’s needs; utilizing community resources for victims’ assistance; assisting Assistant State Attorneys when preparing for trial. The work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Minimum requirements are:
- Associate’s degree or,
- Three (3) years equivalent combination of education and experience
- Customer services experience preferred
- Bilingual – (English/Spanish) or (English/Creole), preferred
Candidates must have very good verbal and written communication skills, have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Candidates must be able to work effectively under pressure, stringent time constraints and be able to work flexible hours.
Starting Annual Salary: $26,421.12
