TITLE: VICTIM WITNESS COUNSELOR I (County Payroll)
County Court – Civic Park Plaza
A position is available for a County Victim Witness Counselor to work in the County Court Division. This position requires extensive phone contact with victims and witnesses, supporting trial active attorneys, with a high volume of case management of Criminal Traffic, Misdemeanor and DUI cases. Responsibilities also include preparing witness availability lists for trial, mandatory trial subpoenas and witness locates; filing mail, coordinating transportation, assessing the victim’s needs, and utilizing community resources for victims’ assistance. This position also requires extensive research in multiple databases and a high volume of interaction with prosecutors, three (3) division secretaries, and officers from multiple police agencies.
Minimum requirements are:
- Associate’s Degree
- Customer service experience preferred or,
- Three (3) years equivalent combination of experience, and
- Very good verbal and written communication skills, and
- Successful completion of a skills test is required
Candidates must have the ability to work independently with little supervision and handle stressful situations. Preference may be given to candidates with a strong working knowledge of community resources, victim services, and knowledge of CJIS, TIS, E-NOTIFY and SPIRIT.
Yearly Starting Salary: $25,753.78 (with County Benefits)
