TITLE: LEGAL SECRETARY I – PFC Secretary
Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Unit – Courthouse Center
A position is available for a Legal Secretary I – PFC Secretary in the Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Unit. This unit deals with domestic violence cases, which include graphic details of horrific incidents and exposure to profane language. This position supports all three divisions in the unit and is primarily responsible for setting pre-file conference appointments for all victims, witnesses and police officers, and sending the corresponding notice or subpoena, as well as processing any attorney requests as needed. Other responsibilities include backing up the arraignment secretaries by preparing domestic violence cases for upcoming arraignment hearings; identifying witnesses for Discovery; updating witnesses and evidence in HYDRA; ordering case reports; preparing daily court calendars and processing incoming mail. Additionally, this position requires extensive telephone contact with the public. The work schedule for this position is: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or
8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The minimum requirements are:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- Two (2) years general clerical experience
- Preference may be given to the candidate with knowledge of domestic violence community resources, HYDRA, CJIS, and E-Notify.
- Typing speed of 20 accurate words per minute
- Successful completion of a Skills Test
The successful candidate must be detail oriented, able to meet stringent deadlines, adaptable to change, and computer literate.
Starting Annual Salary: $23,221.08
