INTERPRETER/TRANSLATOR – (30 hours per week)

Domestic Assistance Response Team

A certified Interpreter/Translator in English/Spanish will be responsible to interpret statements simultaneously or consecutively during telephone calls, victim/witness interviews, hospital visits and interviews with other employees, to facilitate communication for victims/witnesses with limited English proficiency. Translating may include graphic details of horrific incidents and exposure to profane language. This position is also responsible for translating the written word from English to Spanish and vice versa. The work schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. –3:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. This position is funded by the VOCA grant and will be reviewed for renewal on a yearly basis, contingent on continued funding.

Minimum requirements:

  • Certification by the State or an accredited organization, and
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish, and
  • Must have knowledge of legal terminology, and the ability to interpret/translate legal terminology

Candidate must be able to maintain professionalism when dealing with graphic details of horrific incidents and exposure to profane language. Candidates must be able to handle confidential information with the highest degree of professional responsibility. Candidate must also be flexible with their work schedule when needed.

Hourly Rate: $30.00 per Hour
